Default Travelling from Boston to Nova Scotia

Hi Guys,
Well, we are trying to get over to Nova Scotia for a week for a recce.
My brother lives in Boston so we would like a week there, then across to Nova Scotia for a week, than back to boston for another week.
Flights from Edinburgh to Boston (return) are coming in at less than £1000, but flights from Boston to Nova Scotia are going to set us nearly £1500 !
Anybody got any idea how we can do Boston/Nova/Boston for less (alot less!) money.
Driving all the way isn't really an option as we have a small child.

If any has any suugestion, please let us know

You didn't say what time of year you plan to travel or how many travelers involved. I just did a quick Google for a return flight Boston-Halifax and was quoted $342 per person which is a long way from the GBP 1,500 ($2,600) you mentioned unless your'e bringing 5 or 6 people.
While it's a healthy drive from Boston to Halifax it would be an easy one with a one night stopover and a good deal less expensive that flying @ $2600 and it's the way I would go, even with a small child. Just make sure the car rental company allows you to take the vehicle across the border.

Make sure you stay a Saturday night otherwise you will be screwed with the return fares

I know Orbitz lets you do a multi-city trip flight different dates for each flight. It may be worth looking at.

Other sites probably do the same. Or you could go to a high street travel agent and ask them to help.

if you are travelling in the late spring through to late fall you can get the sea cat from bar harbour to yarmouth which cuts down the journey considerably

Is it cost effective though? I seem to remember asking about this before on the forum and most people seemed to think it wasn't worth the bother. Maybe do a search for that one...
