I've worked remotely part time on UK contracts for a number of years for the same employer and done one offs for others. The main one has sometimes had me on a contract for services and more recently put me back on payroll. I declare what I've earned to the CRA and what tax I've paid. It's important to keep records as I sometimes get asked by the CRA of evidence of tax paid to HMRC. And of course the different tax year is slightly annoying for calculations. My main contractor very kindly provides me with a statement of earnings and tax paid for Jan-Dec so I can report to the CRA more easily.

Hi, also take a look at dualitybanx.com, the fees are fixed so for transfers over €5k they could work out cheaper than Transferwise etc

Thanks for the info! It's gonna be a hassle by the looks of it, but not impossible : )

I think it's a fairly new feature: https://transferwise.com/gb/borderless/card

Potential problem.

I did my latest monthly transfer and noticed a change yesterday.
The bank transfer option - where it gives you an account number and sort code, which you input on your UK bank site (using a card reader as a one time thing) - is now coming up as Open Transfer and my UK bank is not listed.

Is was not listed previously either, but I could select 'other' and it worked fine. But now it says only those listed.

I had to revert to my previous method - inputting debit card details.

But my UK bank has recently announced a further security step to be introduced when using debit card and it requires contact (text I think) via a UK mobile phone which I don't have.

If the UK bank doesn't have an easy workaround, I may have to open a TW account and have my UK pension paid in or find another transfer service.

I have emailed TW. Hopefully they'll add my bank to the Open Transfer list.

Problem solved.
The bank transfer option is now there alongside the new open transfer.
