Sorry to potentially just be adding superfluous rubbish to the mix, but to my understanding, to award anything with a qualification someone needs to sit down and construct formulate what will be achieved, how it will be studied, what hours will be given to what and how the outcome will be tested......or words put better by someone else - you get my point.

I trained on a unique course that only took 4 intakes over a year in my small nursing college. By the time my 3.5 years were up, we had merged twice with other colleges and been absorbed into a University. When 10 years later I was asked for transcripts I had never even heard of them, but sent the request to what had previously been the street address of my college building, which had since turned into Offices for the Uni. But there was a Transcrip for our course, it was required to justify and make plausible a transitional course whilst they awaited the much talked about Project2000.

So the transcript isnt necessarily a transcript of how well you did, or like a report at the end of year, it is mostly simply what was learnt and to what level, how and how it was tested. Then of course, how you did to get that certificate.

So send a request and see what happens. Best of luck!

thanks for your replies. Have sent email to the collegiate asking if they provide transcripts, but my QTS is (or was then) evidence based, you provide the evidence you pass or fail.

Have found my summary of initial teacher training as given by the then DFEE . Have sent them a copy of this , am currently working on the principle that they may very well accept it as they probably have no idea what a transcript from my collegiate actually looks like. It is signed by the coordinator so fingers crossed

To be honest i can understand why OCT wants all this info to register me, have no problem with that at all. But this is just for a bit of private tutoring, they have my resume , it details over nine years of experience , I have references on there. If you have any doubt about my ability contact them.

Zoe I got my teaching qualifications and degrees accredited by the British Columbia College of teachers it is no different to the OCT. The difficult part is contacting the universities you attended. Now my understanding of doing a school centered PGCE is that even though it is school based it is nevertheless supervised and administered by a university or other equivalent educational organisation. A good starting point would be to look at which educational institution your school centered PGCE was linked to and contact them. Even school centered PGCE's require attendance at seminars and other workshops led by the university to aid your professional development.

I f you need further help please contact me. I forgot to add you need to contact the GTC in order to get your certificate of professional standing. Just in case you don't have the details.
Here it is: Telephone: 08700010308
website: www.gtce.org.uk
address: GTC

It is not such a daunting task. Make a list of all the degrees you completed and contact each of them requesting your transcripts. Some universities charge for this service whilst others don't.

Take Care

Now I appreciate that I have to conform to their educational requirements and I am now living and working in their country but I'm very frustrated , I tried explaining that British universities don't work on a transcript system , all you get is your degree certificate , thats all you ever need !!!

frustrated , a bit upset and not sure what to do, has anyone else come up against this whole transcript culture?

My teacher training course didn't technically provide my with anything , you get a letter from the then DFES saying you are registered to teach in the UK, thats all .

feel like crying
Know just how you feel: I'm in oz and they want me to go back to uni for a year to study English!!!!! I did English for my PGCE specialism (primary) but this is not documented at all..... It seems 10 years of experience counts for nothing. It is the degree I did more than 10 years ago that is the deciding factor in whether or not I can teach...

Sooo frustrating. Would do a line of angry faces if I could work out how to do them!!!

Zoe,

For what it's worth, I'm looking into doing online tuition with UK students when I get to Toronto. There are various online tutoring agencies/directories in which you can advertise. Now would be a good time to look, with exams coming up soon.

Thanks , there was no uni attached to my course they had direct authority to award QTS. Having said that they have got back to my email saying that they will trey to provide all the information I have requested , even though some of it is not relevant to my course.

The OTC stuff isn't sctually a problem , I have that in hand , i was just hoping to sign up with this agency reasonably quickly to get some pennies.

I have calmed down today , I think what upset me yesterday was the fact that they were about to invite me down to discuss students and textbooks and stuff but blew me off once they realised I couldn't immediately send them this stuff. I am also annoyed that I didn't keep a copy of the university transcript I had for my PR app. We've either misplaced or thrown them out. If the latter I suspect it was me , Ben is the hoarder I'm the "chuck it out" one!!!

Again , many thanks to those of you who tolerate my rants on a regular basis!
