The Annex
Yonge and Eglinton
City Place
Liberty Village
Queen Street between Spadina and Ossington
Cabbage Town
Distillery District/ St Lawrence Market
Leslieville

All worth looking at in my opinion. Sharing in a modern condo will be $800 to $1100 per month approximately. Less in a house share.

Your own space will be $1300+ depending on how picky you are and your requirements. Always try and negotiate. I've never paid asking in Toronto.

You probably want something short term till you know where your job is. You want to give yourself the shortest commute possible.

Leslieville and Liberty Village have the worst transport connections so would only be good if you were on their side of town. Yonge-Eglinton is mid-town so again could be a long commute if you have to deviate from the subway too much.

I used to live in Davisville, not as vibrant as Yonge and Eg but its only one stop down in subway, and their are some decent bars on Yonge and Davisville. Some nice restaurants in Mount Pleasant too.

Liberty Village is too inconvenient and City Place is a wasteland.

To the OP, check out College & Bathurst (Little Italy) and Bloor & Bathurst. Both are very cool areas, lots of restaurants and bars, many students and young people, right downtown and good transit. College & Bathurst isn't right on the tube line, but there's a street car that takes you there in about 10 minutes or about you could walk to the nearest station in about 20min.

Many people mention Yonge & Eglinton. It's a good area but more yuppie in character, depends what scene you prefer.

Tons of single women in that area too.
