My wife and I are moving to Toronto soon, but we know nothing about Toronto so please give us advice. Which part of Toronto is the best for new comers? nice apartment close to everything.

Well, I live in an apartment in North York (Don Mills area), and it's close to everything (mall, plaza, gas station, subway station, etc.) There's even a bus stop right in front of the building. The area is relatively clean and if you have kids, there are more than 3 schools around our building.

this has details on all the different wards. I found a realtors site that has more information on districts, but I can't remember where it was, I think it links in from an Ontario site.

Is it possible to get an apartment from the US by calling them? In the US, the apartment office first run my credit report, sign the contract and than move in. I just don't wanna stay at hotel

I lived in Don Mills for about 35 years.. good area, low crime.. it is a bit of a center for seniour citizens.. so keep that in mind.. it is coming back for kids though.. there was a while there for all the kids grew up and moved away.. but younger families seem to be moving back in.. or the kids that grew up and moved away are coming back..

anyway.. I used to work at the dominion there.. for like 13 yrs.. sounds like you live pretty close to there.. small world..

don mills is also about 20 minutes from downtown.. I cant really give any more advice other then what I know.. everyone is different so what I mind find a good convenience you may not..
