finally made it to toronto
what a wondefrull city it is,living down town in a backpackers hostel at the min.
really want to stay here,but finding it hard to get work.
ideally i want to stay with in my trade and work as bricklayer,but at the moment any thing will do.
does any1 know of any brickies living here or knows some1 who is looking for birckies..

My brother's a brickie. He came as a tourist in the late eighties and just stayed, he had steady work in and around Toronto for ten years or so before deciding to move out of town. He always worked for and with Irish firms, the industry, as noted above, is very much divided on ethnic lines, big sites will have Irish, Jamaican, Polish, Portuguese, and who knows what other, gangs. You have bugger all chance of getting a job with a firm if you don't fit the profile, can you pass for Shane McGowan?
