All around Toronto there's a band of horse country, the big equestrian facility is in Palgrave northwest of the city, but Kitchener has a particular concentration of things equine as there's a large Mennonite population out that way. Mennonites use horses in place of cars and farm tractors.

More seriously though Iaink lots of members rely on you guys/gals with more Canadian experience than the rest of us, this may sound sad but this forum, and the immigration one, are one of the few sources of good intel on the what,why,where etc's of Canada.

I don't think getting work here in Alberta would be an issue for a welder either - and it's certainly a Horse lovers province. Plenty of places to ride here, either Western or English style.
