Default Timescale advice please!

We did our 'landing' and were granted permanent residency on 1/6/12. Our house is currently up for sale and was wondering if anybody could inform me of the timescale involved to be living over in canada. I seem to recall you have to be over there for 3 years in the first 5! Is this correct? thanks in advance.

My understanding is that you need to meet the minimum requirements but that time can fall at anytime within the 5 years. So you could take two years selling up etc and then go. The time is not front loaded so to speak.

It's two years in the 5 year period, doesn't need to be consecutive.

And a word of advice. Since no expat who's lived in North America for a while can be sure whether 1/6/12 means January 6th or June 1st, always spell it out.

this!

i used to hate doing it in the UK, since working for an American aviation company we'd have to spell out the month when writing the date... (i.e 1-JUN-12)

but it's quite a good habit to get in to over here!

Does your OH not shoot down your ideas, rephrase them and then pass them off as her own?
