Hi
It would depend on where you are planning to emigrate to (i.e. which province) and what type of visa you are going to apply for.
If you are applying for a Skilled worker and are not in one of the PNP schemes, the time quoted by the London CHC is now 39 months which may go up (more likely) or down as time progresses. That 39 months is just to process your application. You will then have to have medicals etc and it could take anywhere from another month to another six months after that.
It is depressing but I would say that the sooner that you can submit your application, the better.

P.S. I think that this thread should be in the Canadian immigration forum.

One other thing to note is that unless you are applying as a sponsored spouse you can't do your meds until CHC ask you. That won't be until you have waited a verrrry long time the way things are right now 39 months and counting.

So long as you've more than the minimum amount of cash, it's not an issue & you will still have to wait.

I think you should have a read of CIC's website!

Which brings us to the next point. It's not outside the bounds of possibility you'd qualify as an Entrepreneur (subset of Business Immigrant). Since you're a skilled trades person, a Provincial Nomination Program also may be relevant. You can read about the possibilities here.
