I got my medical form 2 weeks ago and those guys from Buffalo said I am gonna wait 7 to 10 months until my file is going to be transfered to the Los Angeles Canadian Consulate...Do somebody knows is this time correct ? I mean if i have to wait for that long just for the transfer(7-10 months) there is not any reason for them to extend the proccesing that long!!! Are they that busy? I requested my interviu from the begining to take place in Detroit but they scheduled me for the L.A. telling me the Detroit consulate is too busy for receiving further applications...and the waiting for an interviu in Detroit could be around one year and a half !

I applied for P.R. in june 2001 under the independent skilled work program.

My personal opinion is I have to wait 7-10 months until the interviu is gonna be scheduled, and my file is gonna be transfered in few months like 3 or 4. I just hope I will have the interviu this year...

I am waiting for your opinions !!!Thanks a lot!~

be patient, with the same dates of application - I mean June 2001 I got interview notice right in a months from medical forms. And it was LA though it was not my choice.

I was just wondering myself - how long does it take to get visa documents after interview in LA? It's been more than 3 months already and i have not gotten anything.
good luck and thanks for help if any...

Ronik,

Thank you for the timeline. They mentioned 7-10 months interview queue in my letter. You received your interview notice 2 months after the initial assessment. It is hard to understand how they handle the queue. In which category and profession did you apply ? I do not mind waiting but if my interview notice letter is lost that can be a problem. Any suggestions?

Regards

i think profession doesn't make any difference here. I 've got the same letter from Buffalo saying that i would need to wait 7-10 months. But it turned out to be only two month. So, be patient and you will finally receive inotice for an interview.

its taking an average of about 5-7 months after the medical exams/interview for any further communication from the visa office. in these cases people are being asked to send in their passports for the visa. after the passport is sent it seems to be taking an additional 1 month +.

from this forum, the last known occurence was the visa office asking for the passport about 6 weeks ago, and i dont think the person has ehard back yet.

be patient...

thanks Bighead. Do you think that 5-7 months period is for LA office or is average for all of them? Does LA office do the stickers?

5-7 months seems to be the average for buffalo interview waived cases. it all depends on the background checks to be completed. la should be fairly close as well.

and apparently all new immigrant visa's will be affixed in passports. no more imm1000.

I did my interview at LA in April 2002, and was told I will hear from them in 2 moths, unfortunately I am still waiting.
But I have a question, when I eventually hear from LA will I need to send my passport? I am out of the US and travel frequently and thus need my passport. I thought they just send the visa as a document to me

nope, no more visa document... pr visa is now a sticker they affix to your passport apparently...

maybe you could ask them if you can bring in your passport personally to the consulate... who knows... there isnt enough info yet about the process... you will just have to wait like the others...
