Time for a pity party :(
Just feeling pathetic and sorry for myself and I figured if anyone can pick me up, slap me in the face and tell me to get a grip, it's you guys!
It seems that everytime we have a plan in place to move to Canada, we meet a stumbling block and it is driving me mad! Federal skilled workers route is out because, although my hubbie has an in-demand job that doesn't require a job offer, he misses the number of points required by 1
We could apply with me as main applicant and score more than enough points but then I need a job offer and so not one single job offer has come my way. The other option was to buy a home in Nova Scotia and go down the PNP route but in a nut-shell we need a much bigger downpayment on a house than we originally thought and that with the cost of moving would just not be possible, unless we sold our house in the UK and with the economy being the way it is right now, I reckon it would be a pretty foolish thing to do......I know there are loads of you out there going through/have gone through the same type of thing, but seriously, how do you stop it from getting you down?

Hey never give up on your dream - why don't you try getting him a job offer? Just because he doesn't need one doesn't mean you couldn't go around getting him an offer and going that way. At least its something to work towards

Are you an engineer? your prof must be on the demand list for Quebec. check it out, and learn some basic french!

Get a job offer, now is not the time to move countries unless you have a job to go to. A dream can soon become a nightmare

definately no way of squeezing that 1 point out of it??? I know there have been people onhere who have added up points then spoken to professionals who have added more as they had not realised they could get points for ceratin things ( sorry hope that makes sense) Might be worth re looking at the points thing especially round eductaion as that seems to be the area that people mis count

Did your OH get any points for French? If not, a year's worth of evening classes might get him a couple of points at least? And easier than some of the other methods.

Thanks for the advice everyone 
We have talked about trying to get OH a job offer and are in the process of getting his resume up to scratch. I thik with things being the way they are, that is our only hope. Once things get better with the economy, I will start applying for jobs again too. I think one pp asked if I was an engineer? Yes, I am, and could get a job offer with enough persistence had it not been for this whole obtaining an LMO thing first. Nobody is interested in hiring outside Canada in my field. Won't give up though! I am trying to see this as a marathon rather than a sprint!

My husband did a weeks intensive french course as we were lacking in points. Then he had to do the proper French test thingy set by immigration but it gave him an extra 6 out of 8 points (I think! - his very rusty 'o' level french was rekindled!) which boosted our score to over the 67 points.
We now are proud owners of Permanent Resident status but our house sale has just fallen through (AGAIN!! - second time in three months!!
) We don't know now whether to just give up on the whole idea for a few years (we have until October 2011 to shift our butts in order to keep our PR status active as we officially landed in October last year). Maybe things will pick up a bit as we felt like we were giving our house away anyway and we still couldn't get to completion!!! Dilemmas dilemmas - really can't face the thought of going back on the market again though. But hate keep putting this off but with no job to go to, it may not be wise at this time anyway.

Alright we live in Alberta but its still Canada he was hired outside of England. We had to get a LMO first as well

Sounds like you finding reasons *not* to make this happen. Finish the resume (how long does it take!?), don't wait for the economy, get the LMO and start applying for jobs RELENTLESSLY. You can't sit around waiting for the planets to line up. Make it happen!! Take control of your life. Your supposed to be an engineer - so ENGINEER a solution!!!
