I wonder how many people are emigrating on the same date as me and my husband - will we be the exstatic ones at the airport (going on the budget airline Thomas Cook!!) with bulging suitcases to get the maximum weight allowance.
Wish me luck at work trying to hide my enthusiasm for 3 months acting normal and working just as hard but knowing I am being almost 'devious' to the company who has treated me so well oh well I am feeling sarcastic today

Well we are flying out of Gatwick on 26th June (after flying in from Cork early that morning), been waiting WAY too long, glad the day is finally set!
Even with all the time we have had, now I'm finding that the organisation list is getting very long...

RRhodes, we're leaving the UK around the same time as you, haven't booked flights yet!
At the end of the day if your employer needed to get "rid'" of you they would so don't feel too bad. Nobody is indispensable!
Good luck, where are you going?

We are going to Ottawa on 29 august but going to new York on 5 September for few days with family then get back to look for jobs. Its nice that we are going to stay with my brother when we get there so some of the pressure is off. Hope to find relatively cheap rental place but not sure if they exist. Starting to sort out the remainder of the 'to do list' that costs money such as insurance. The cat. Tax. Having bit of a nightmare renting as we have to move end of the month then again at end July. Reason we picked end august is uthat my brother is away working until then. Wish could go now but glad flights are booked. Sure we Will all share our experience after we are settled. Thanks to Lucy for calming my nerves and making me see what i have to look forward to. Minus 15 in shorts eek. good luck to you all.

We have been waiting 4 years to emigrate and landed (for 2 weeks) last October. Our removal company is coming 4th May....so all is packed up for that and hope to book flights (pending house completion date) for May 13th!
We have only been to Vancouver in the autumn so really looking forward to spring/summer there. Good luck everyone. Airport here I come!

Well 29th August has been and gone and we are still in the UK - my husband got cold feet at the last minute. Anyway we are going to a wedding in Ottawa in December and will either now just not come back then or move a month later in February. Has anyone else changed their minds and then gone again?
