Has anybody else moves to NS from BC please?
Are there opportunities for kids and jobs etc? I want my kids to have a future but I cannot see them ever buying a home here in BC :@(
Any insights would be greatly appreciated. And areas to recommend to live, husband would probably be working I halifax but not fussed about l8ving there, I don't like rural, I need shops restaurants, sushi, and neighbours and a swimming pool and yoga studio to go to :@)

Lantz is a community that is 45 minutes outside of Halifax. It's very nice but you need a car to get to everything in nearby Elmsdale. There is yoga but not sushi available.
It's a typical friendly community.

The skiing in NS is very different to the skiing in BC. I would suggest visiting NS before you make any decisions. The house prices are lower for a reason.

Re: Thinking of moving from Vancouver to Nova Scotia
I just learnt to ski this winter so it is all new to me. what is different about the skiing ?
I spend my entire time panicking and trying to slow myself going down :@)
I do it to get out in the winter and be up a mountain, definitely not good at it !!

I am not an expert skier but I suggest that the difference between BC and NS in terms of skiing is that one has mountains and the other does not. Steep slopes, such as one finds in BC, are advantageous for skiing.

That's accurate. BC has mountains, NS has a few small hills.

Again, I'm not much of a skier but I think it fair to say that people move from BC to NS for the skiing like they move from Switzerland to Scotland for the skiing.
NS however offers ocean and cheap houses if you can find a job and are willing to stay with that employer until you're dead.
