HI
My husband and I are considering a move to Canada. we have relation in ontario ( peterborough region).
But i am worried that we are to old. We are both 46, I am a registered Nurse, my husband is a Ceramic Tiler.
If we can get Jobs, financially we should be ok. As we could afford to buy a decent property outright.
Our 2 children have now left home, and we are looking for a change in our lives and this seems a good way of doing it. Ideally I would prefer to open up a B&B.
Opinions would be appreciated
regards

I agree, worth giving it a go....Being mortgage free and improving your lifestyle has to be worth trying. Last thing you want is another 10 or 20 years passing by and you thinking should we have at least given it a try
I am not sure if age will be a concern so long as you have good health and the urge to do something with your life. Looks like an ideal time to consider the move if kids are now independent.
If you have'nt already....have you done a reaserch trip (rather than just a holiday)
Good luck

We arrived earlier this year.
If you want to search in Canada, use Aliant.net Home Page, then their search engine. www.Aliant.net
Check all your house price needs on www.mls.ca
Some provinces do not do a PNP Immigration. The ones that do offer nomination certificates for Skilled Workers or Business persons, there is a yearly quota.
To search for PNP programmes search for the provincial gov. websites.
eg. New Brunswick Government.
You are welcome to contact us privately.

We have a very youthfull outlook, however the age thing was more for the immigration system, The information seems confusing. We are going out to Ontario next July, My cousin is going to be showing us around, with a view to living as opposed to a view to holidaying!
My major concern is that although I can probably get over as a Nurse, this is not something I want to be stuck with doing long term, is itpossible to change direction once over thier.
And the idea of terrorising youngsters on the ski slopes fills me with glee!!!

I think you get a free ski pass when you are around 65, how cool is that, had a ski guide who was 70 last year, fitter than us two put together
Have friends who are emigrating at 80 so how about that !

Finances preclude our setting up a B&B in the UK to get experience, so I was wondering how exact a match the experience has to be - and if you have a sound business plan and plenty of spare built into your financial calculations, can you get away with less on the experience front. After all, as I understand it, if you come over to set up a business PR is 'conditional' until the business has been running for a couple of years, so presumably if we failed and ran out of money they wouldn't be stuck with us, they could just send us home.

Kids grown up and gone, wanting a change, you have dough and a plan... am I missing something here?
