To give you some background information,

I am fairly new to canada.

I got a job within 3 weeks of arriving here, as an IT Auditor - I have a Bsc (Computer Sci) and CISA and I currently have one more paper to get my CIA.

Have about 9 years experience. 1 year canadian experience

So I literally took the salary I was offered without negotiation because I was suprised to get the first job I was interviewed for.

I enjoy the people I work with, but I think I need more responsibilities.

Anyway I got a 6% raise with 15% bonus early this year and I have been told I was recommended for a promotion but wasnt approved --- long story.

So I am thinking of searching for another job, with salary within 85k to 95k Base salary.

Am I realistic or asking for too much. The "managers here" don't even have close to my years of experience and they earn about 20k more than me.

Any comment is appreciated.

I guess it depends on what part of Canada you're in. My husband was told he'd only get around $65k (base) average in Calgary for a Global VP Sales position in IT but in Vancouver he could potentially get around $200k. I also don't know how realistic. I do know that when you do the conversion that's a lot less than here for Calgary but about the same as here for Vancouver.

There's no harm in looking is there.
