Hi there just wondered if there was an article or even maybe someone had made a thread showing a to do list of all the important things once you land there. If there is can you provide me the link please.
Things I know I need to do is:
Open Bank,
Sort out SIN
Swap my driving licence for canada one.
I am sure many more things like that.
I am flying out on 29th this month. I am so excited but also really anxtious about it all. Gonna miss the UK and hope all the waiting and planning will prove worth it in the long run.

Relocation2BC, which is a website that BE member Frank 'n Sense maintains, has an arrival checklist. Okay, it's geered towards British Columbia, but similar principles apply, regardless of where in Canada you live.
Frank's Moving to BC page similarly includes points that will serve to jog your memory about what you need to do.
Also, believe it or not, good old Citizenship and Immigration Canada have a good web page called Information for Newcomers.
Good luck with everything.

All I would add is
Explore
Have Fun
Get Health Card sorted out (Important)
Find a doctor & dentist
Don't fret - Pace of life here is great and things get done!
One thing I'm glad I did was to bring my Credit Bureau with me - Helped big time.

I went to www.checkmyfile.co.uk - Paid for my CB. When we moved, because I had no credit history, I showed it when we went for a Mortgage, Credit Card & Car. I was also told that some landlords have asked for it when your an immigrant.
Got a mortgage in minutes, credit card from FI that I don't work for (In the same day) and no problems with car.
Might have still got them without the CB but still glad I got it.

I agree. Some people state categorically that your UK credit history is worthless, but our mortgage broker certainly wanted copies of ours, and we never thought to take it when we went to buy a car! (DOH!!)
Anyway, you can get yours done online in minutes for about ten pounds. I think we used Equifax.

Hum had a look at that link and it says I must exchange licence and take eye test which is fine but it also says I must take a written knowledge test regarding Ontario's traffic rules. I guess that means I cant get it day I get there as I would need to study all this 1st. Anyone else taken the test. I thought exchanging meant I could get a licence right away without taken any test.
