Thanks to BE, Air transat & even the CBSA
We only arrived in the Okanagan two weeks ago and I'll do a proper update on experiences so far in another couple of weeks when there's more to say but having read every thread ever written on goods to follow lists, shipping the dog and views on Air Transat I thought I would set a few other people's minds at rest.
The three of us, including Molly the Labrador flew with Air Transat from Manchester to Vancouver two weeks ago and had no problems whatsoever. The staff knew how to handle the dog - after we'd checked in ridiculously early they let us keep the dog for another couple of hours before returning to the desk when they took us down to the excess baggage area for her cage to be strapped and her to disappear off into the bowels of Manchester Airport. The OH checked with the crew that they knew they had a dog on board ( they did ) and the heating was on in the hold ( it was ). The paperwork wasn't checked in Manchester as they said they trusted us (!) and it passed the test in Vancouver. The cost was the CAD275 to Air Transat and about £100 for the very large vari-kennel so definitely no need to spend hundreds with the pet transport companies in our experience.
Our second big concern beforehand had been the GTF list which we first prepared 2.5 years ago when we landed but was of no interest to the CBSA then or on subsequent interim visits. We followed the advice from Former Lancastrian and explained exactly what had happened and everything went smoothly. We also found the old links to electronic versions of the necessary paperwork on here very useful and after a few questions, and a lengthy review of the paperwork all the forms were duly stamped and a further CAD30 fee paid for inspecting the dog (who was lying down in her sealed cage) we were free to proceed.
Three days later we presented the same paperwork to the officials at Kelowna airport where we met our container full of furniture etc that we had last seen several weeks earlier and we were free to proceed.
So thanks to BE in general, and Former Lancastrian in particular, Air Transat and the CBSA we're 'good to go'

Great news! Glad to hear your good arrived and your settling in - will need to arrange a beachy catch up once we're all unpacked.
