Texting Canada from the UK
#16
My boyfriend already has a blackberry in canada and has free international texts as part of his plan. Maybe I'll look into getting a blackberry..hmm.
Because I don't know how permanently I'll be over here, I don't want to buy an iphone. I have a really crappy old UK phone that I know I'll need to change, but just don't want to be locked into a 12 -12 month contract when I'm not sure how long I'll be here for..

My Mum texts me from the UK to Canada and she uses T-Mobile, she pays 5 pounds and that gets her i think 150 texts or maybe 250 don't remember. before this it used cost cost her like 25p a text and she was spending 20 pounds on just texting me, when you call them they might say they don't have such a deal but they do, just give push the matter

In order to keep in touch with my husband when I'm out and about, he bought me for Christmas the Samsung Galaxy Mini (my first smart phone) which was only £80 from Tesco and I use Tesco mobile pay as you go plan. They have a plan if you put in say £10 they will triple your credit so you get £30 of credit. So I use the additional £20 of free credit to call and txt my family here in the UK and I use the actual money I put in it to txt and call my husband in Canada. I also pay the £5 per month off my original credit to get internet etc for when I can't access WIFI. When I am out and about rather than txting we use imo + app the free one which allows you to add all of your accounts from msn to yahoo to FB so you can send messages and chat via fb which doesnt cost you txting.
