Default TEF exam ? What to do

Hello,

I have submited my documents to Canadian the embassy as 120 day deadline will pass tomorrow. However, I am not able to schedule TEF exam before September because until then, i want to learn something and at least get some points for French language. I am fast learner, especially with the languages ?

Do you suggest me to book exam and send confirmation letter to the Canadian embassy, will they wait for me or simply reject now if I do not meet all points ? Please advise.

Do you need the points? I think you would have been better off learning French before applying, or maybe at least starting as soon as you put your initial app in the post.

Thanks for your answer. Yes, you are right but perhaps they can wait. They used to do that before I heard but now, with new rules in place it is hard. My only option is to continue with French lessons and in case I receive negative answer I will apply again I

I thought that if you give your full application to London after 10th April this year, they did not give you a second chance with reference to French or language ability. They make a decision on what is submitted. So posting results at a later date is not an option I don't think.

I am currently learning French and have my TEF test in 2 weeks in London. I will be able to hopefully submit favourable pass certificates with my full application to London.

Hope this helps

Hi,

I am applying to Vienna Embassy since I am not British citizen. I am using Abrams & Krochak, Canadian Immigration Lawyers who write nice letter and asked embassy to give me more time.
Is the fact that they won't accept later documents real or this can somentimes change, what are the chances ? If not, I will have to reapply once I am rejected. This could be another option.

My application last year was rejected on two points short. They did not accept my written letter claiming my French ability. They did at the time offer me 60 extra days before a final decision was made, to pass the TEF test to get those vital points. I couldn't do that at the time so my application was rejected.

New rules were announced recently which meant that the entension is not now offered and a decision is made on what you submit. So I think unless you are very lucky you will have to re-apply but you never know.

I guest that A& K don't read the Operational Bulletins #120

"Requests for extensions

The FSW application kit [IMM EG7000] informs applicants “visa offices are strictly enforcing the 120 day rule and will not provide extensions.” In addition, applicants are informed clearly and unambiguously of the documentary requirements and the timeframes for submissions to the visa office. The FSW kit states:

Consult the Visa Office specific requirements now to determine what documents you will need to provide ... If you are not prepared to submit full documentation to the Visa Office within 120 days do not apply now.

Applicants are given notice from the outset that if they are not prepared, they should not apply. Applicants who follow this notice should be able to meet the deadline.

The IMM EG7000 is available at the following link:

www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/
guides/EG73.asp

Nevertheless, some applicants will request extensions. All requests must be properly considered, documented in CAIPS notes and answered. Visa officers must bear in mind, however, the importance of the 120 day deadline in order to manage these cases efficiently."

Thanks.

I started to agree with the fact that I will be refused since I only have 65 points. I am preparing for worse and new try. I heard many people have tried again and won PR. A&K said there is no way to temporarily "freeze" the process and once the documents are required, we need to submit them.

I only have 65 points and A&K told me that the visa officer can still approve my application if they are convinced I can adapt and find Job in Canada.

Ahem...I'm sorry, but with my bitter past experience with CIC, I think they won't, and they'll happily process your application, promptly reject it, all at the cost of your fees, which you won't get back because they processed your application.

But good luck!
