Default Tax Return

Just wondered if anybody else has experienced problems getting tax back? We have been in Canada for 14 months an put in our first tax return in June, but are still waiting to receive any money back. We've phoned a few times, but just get told that it's being processed, it's now been 14 weeks. Also family allowance we sent our application in March this year and are still waiting. We've been told that we are entitled to it from September 2009, but are still waiting for the payments to start. Is this normal? We live in Vancouver.

14 weeks is well within normal for first returns and 6 months isn't unheard of. Isn't June a bit late for filing your taxes?

June 15 for self employed, April 30 to pay any tax without interest. Everyone else April 30. If you don't owe tax CRA are not too bothered, it can delay CTB payment through. If you are expecting a refund, all you've really done is give the govt. an interest free loan.
