Default T.V packages where do I go?

Hi can anyone help I am in the Calgary area, have just got keys to our new property in Okotoks and have got to get a t.v./internet company sorted. Can anyone recommend any companies have looked at Shaw and the packed was $162 with all the channels. However it doesn't say if you have any of the UK channels included in that I have seen on here before about people being able to have 1,2,3,4,5, but can't find the thread to see who they were with.

Thanks

I always had excellent service from Shaw, but when we moved, I switched to Telus in order to take advantage of their free HD PVR rental (basically, the same as a Sky+ box).
For the same price, I've got much more channels, including BBC Canada.
There isnt any package where you can subscribe to BBC1,2, ITV, Channel 4 etc though.

For those kind of programs, you're best bet is to download them from UKNova. It's free and easy...

I only recently signed up with Telus- within the last 4 weeks- and they're still advertising the same deal on the radio, so you should be OK.

Try this link for UKNova.
You need to signup with them, and then click on the "torrents" heading once you're in.

I believe that you have to sign a fixed term contract with Telus but you don't with Shaw

That's what I thought, but we've not signed anything. It's just a 3yr "agreement"- no contract though, and we've not even seen what the terms of the agreement are.

We are with shaw and they are ok. The PVR is the biggest pile crap though - if you are used to sky+ you will just laugh at how poor it is.

BBC Canada is an abomination, however, I would love to get iPlayer working - anyone know of a good UK proxy to use?

This is what we use, works like a charm and you get a list of IP adresses to use, so if one slows down you just change it. The wife uses it all the time for her regular fix of Corrie!!

Maybe - but it requires an installation and is PC only. I've got a mac mini sat under my TV which I use as a media player (not really a mac fan, but it's a good setup and with plex installed can handle *most* 1080p output)
