where's surry? Do you mean Surrey and if so do you mean Surrey the county in the UK or Surrey the district of the greater Vancouver area? If so then the more details you can provide the better the response you'll get

Why Surrey? I'd be very careful where you stay, especially in North Surrey avoid the King George Highway, Whaley and Newton.

Hi Chris, Surrey always gets a bad wrap but there are lots of good places even in North Surrey (awful lot of millionaires for it to be that bad!). try Travelocity.ca for hotels in the area. I just checked the Guildford Sheraton on 104th and its coming up for $135/night at the moment - not bad for a good quality hotel. There is many more depending on you budget and requirements. We stayed at the Sandman Inn at Guildford with no problems for 8 weeks when we first arrived in Canada waiting for our house to be finished.

Chris, I would suggest you do a search of the forum to find what others have said about Surrey. There's a reason it's affordable!

:)

I know several people who live in the Guildford area of Surrey. Good, honest, hard working people. It's not where I choose, or would consider choosing, to live but it's not all gangs and crime. That said, there is a significant amount of crime in that area and it reminds me very much of some of the grimmer parts of the UK.

North Surrey is the problem, some areas are actually very nice (Crescent Beach for instance), Cloverdale also not bad. But the areas to the north should be avoided like the plague.

Stick to Vancouver your geography sucks. Keep the riff raff in south Surrey/Cloverdale and Downtown....! Newton and Whalley not so good but many other places are a great place to live. Best kept secret around.
