True. I was oggling a Porsche Cayman recently, which was the cheapest current mid-engined sports car I could find. But it costs about as much as three WRXs and doesn't drive well in snow.

I chose my STI because it didn't have leather. Too cold in winter too hot in summer.
I think the quality of the carpet in the Subaru is bargain basement type but then again you don't spend your time lounging on it or staring at it i suppose.

Howdy from down under, we have a 2007 Outback, love it, solid as a rock.

A real workhorse if that is what you need, comfy too.

Yeah I don't like leather much for the same reason, and then they get snotty with you and ask you if you want everything Scotchguarded.

Leather is easier to clean, I'll give it that. I find putting my boots into a plastic bag before I put them in the trunk is a simpler solution though.

I miss my old Scooby

I had the last of the classic shape, year 2000 Jap import WRX, full decat exhaust, stage 3 tune, it was a complete chav car looking back now but I loved it. My Wife could hear me coming home from work half a mile away.

Yep it wipes clean i guess. I had a truck that had ventilated front seats which kept them cool in summer then of course they were heated in winter BUT it took a while to do the job and by then you had either scolded your ass or it froze to the seat.

My son has the bug eye WRX with a modified exhaust (its huge) and the STI turbo fitted amongst other stuff i don't understand as its too techy for me. We can hear him coming for miles, or at least we used to know it was him, now there are about 2 or 3 others in the area that sound the same.
Whats great is that at 21 years old he wouldn't have a hope in hell of insuring one of those in UK yet here its just another car.

What annoys me about the car market in canada is that the Excellent German cars which tick all the boxes for comfort, efficiency, reliability and style in canada are either (a) Not German but made in Mexico under licence or (b) considered super high-end. Particularly in the prairies, it tends to be dull boxes, gas-guzzling American SUVs trucks or very dull Japanese/Korean cars. Many Canadians on,y seem to care how many winters the warranty will last for, perhaps understandably.

Are you saying all German brands for the Canadian market are manufactured in Mexico?

The more basic vw models are. All the golfs except the top end GTi and TDI. BMW and audis are considered top end

No complaints about our Forester so far, and it doesn't seem to have burned any oil yet, unlike some of the 2014s. Though, given how hard the dipstick is to read, I can't be 100% certain.

I did have to go into the 'secret' menus on the audio system to get it into a state that sounds OK. The default setting seems to have heavy equalisation that makes it sound worse than none.
