Study permit renewal
 

Hi Guys

I've been studying in Halifax for the last year, with my permit expiring 31st of August. I applied for my permit to be extended for a year within the recommended time-frame but I have still had no response. I've been told that my application hasn't been looked at yet but obviously my status has expired. Am I allowed to stay in the country as a visitor until the renewal comes through or do I have to leave? On a slightly related note, why do online applications take almost twice as long as paper applications?:thumbdown: and why did nobody at the uni tell me this :thumbdown::thumbdown:

You're fine as long as you applied before the expiration date. You're on implied status.

Cool, thanks! Does anybody know if it's possible to apply for an off-campus work permit whilst waiting for the new study permit? I should've done it at the same time but money was a little tight and I couldn't spare the application fee at the time.
