Stopped At Immigration Yet Aagin!
I have just come back into Canada after a well earned xmas break in the UK and low and behold surprise surprise i was stopped at immigration again.
Every single time i have been to Canada or come back here i get stopped and have to go through immigration..i have been PR for nearly 4 years present my card etc and still dont get waived through like everybody else. This has happened at least 10 times since 2007 at 4 different airports..what is the point of having a PR card if im given the third degree every single bloody time?
Anyone else in the same boat?

Did you ask why this keeps happening? Maybe your name is the same as someone on a list somewhere? It cant just be coincidence.

One of my friends travels a lot and used to get stopped by US immigration every time until he questioned it with them after 3 troublesome trips. It turned out that his name and description matched someone who was wanted by the police in 3 states and was known to possibly be travelling overseas to escape the law. He cleared that up with them and now can travel there hassle-free.
It's a slightly different situation, but I would definitely recommend questioning it if they do this again since you are a registered permanent immigrant and have as much right as anyone else to be here.

People in the US have used freedom of information laws to find out why it keeps on happening to them....
Either that or get your citizenship and travel on a Canadian passport and see if thats any better.

I have the same problem, and applied for redress via the Homeland Security process here: http://www.dhs.gov/files/programs/gc_1169676919316.shtm
It took 18 months to get a reply, which said words to the effect of 'We can't disclose why you're subjected to additional screening....we have looked closely at your case...if we deem screening is necessary it will remain an option...have a nice day.'

Hi
I will one up you. I have the same surname and gname and age of a person who has a very looong history with Homeland Security. Every time, can't check in on line referred to agent. They have to phone TSA in Washington to get permission to board. I want a card that says, "I'm not him"

The OP should be asking to speak to a Superintendent once the examination process has been completed. Outline the circumstances and ask why they are being referred and if possible have any flags removed if appropriate as per Para 27 of CIC Enforcement Manual ENF 4 Port of Entry Examinations.
There could be a number of reasons why the OP is being sent for Immigration secondary examination thats if it is Immigration and not Customs secondary examination.

Have you ever tried asking at the time of being stopped (knowing you as I do I would think yes, and ever so firmly but politely too lol) and if so what did they say?

Yes, me
I've had pr for 6 years now, it was renewed in May 2011. I also have a Nexus card. Never had a problem coming back into Canada until last year. First incident was in March which meant I missed the citizenship ceremony for our youngest two, bit ironic really. No-one else in the family has a problem, just me. My worst experience was in Montreal, where I was kept in a room for 3 hours, not allowed to leave it - when I did try to find out what was going on I was threatened physically and verbally by 3 officers, and told in no uncertain terms force would be used to keep me there. I missed my connecting flight as a result so now try to always have Halifax as my port of entry. When I came back in December it took 2 hours of questioning before I was let in. It's no good asking to speak to a supervisor or anyone else higher up the chain - they can do what they like and you can't argue. I have never been so scared in my life as I've been this last year trying to enter Canada with valid documents, and those who've met me know I don't scare easily or stand for nonsense. For the record, I've never had a criminal record, I'm white, middle aged, speak English and French, no ties or support to any groups or clubs - and have no problem getting in to any other country except Canada, even though all my documents are valid and up to date.
