Default Still an International student ??

Could someone help please

We paid tuition fees for the 1st semester of High school for my son to go as an International Student in NS plus to stay with a host family.

We now have PR but haven't landed yet as we are hoping to land in April.
Do we still have to pay his tuition fees and medical insurance for the 2nd semester because we are not landed status yet and not living over there with him?

yes, because you haven't got PR status yet. You have to land to get that.

My daughter did her first year as an international as we were here on TWP, once we obtained PR she had the much needed reduction of fees for her second year, however there was no reimbursment for the time in the first year when we were PRs. She had to show the college the passport visa to prove PR status without that I am afraid you will still be classed as International status.

Can you not come over land and then go back and use the 3 in 5 rule ? I know with my daughter the financial difference in school fees was a very large amount.

Thanks Fledermaus and Snort.
We were planning on landing in April because of work etc. But of course they want the fees 60 days in advance and there isn't going to be any refund due and £4000 just for the tuition is a lot to lose. Unfortunately without paying the tuition fees he can't stay on the homestay program, so we're snookered, we'll just have to cough up or I will have to go over first rent in the school catchment area and the others follow later.

Thanks again
Mel
