Going up next Thursday for the day with my car.
Looking for some help on planning out my day. Any help? What should i go and see?
Some nice trails up there. Any ones in particular? Not looking for anything heavy duty, just an hour or two.
Anything else to do up there?
Or should i be checking out any near by areas? Want to make the most of my day as im renting out a car just for a day.
Cheers.

Squamish is a nondescript town in a magnificent setting. It is particularly famous for rock climbing and wind surfing but if you are not into these then a few suggestions:
1) Stop at the BC mining museum at Britannia Beach a few miles before your get to Squamish. It is interesting.
2) Visit Shannon Falls. It is only a few meters stroll but worth the parking fee (or you could risk it).
3) Hike the Stawamus Chief http://www.trailpeak.com/trail-Stawa...Squamish-BC-25
4) If you need some refreshment afterwards try the Howe Sound Inn & Brewing Company. Take the turn off the highway into Squamish and keep going to the end of the main street.

Going to stop off at Lighthouse Park on the way up. Anything interesting to see there is it just more trails?
Cheers.

Just trails through rain forest, but it's beautiful. There's a panoramic view of the city if you take the east-most trail. The lighthouse is inaccessible, fyi.

As for squamish itself, the great things about it are the hiking trails, backcountry hiking/skiing and climbing. What are you hoping to get out of going up there? It's not the nicest town in the world, in fact it's basically a drive through retail park.
Just past squamish there is a place called Brackendale where you can walk along the river and see lots of bald eagles, although the best time is Jan/Feb so might not be so many around now.

Def Whytecliff park would be more suited to this, great views right next to the car park (go right up to the far end of the car park, up some steps through what looks like some pretty thick bushes and go out on to the rocks - fantastic views on a sunny day).

For a short walk in (near) Squamish itself, go through town and up to Alice Lake. The Four Lakes trail takes about 1.5-2hrs, mostly flat forest trails and very scenic.
When the weather improves, hiking up the Chief is definitely recommended for those who don't mind the exercise or heights:

Lighthouse Park: From the car park to the beach & sea view is about a 10min walk direct, but you can continue the trail all around the headland to make an hours walk or so.
