We keep meaning to try the takeaway in Brentwood next to the Indian shop. It only does fixed menu , cooks maybe two dishes a night.
Anyone been there?

I had a lovely Chinese curry in a little place on Kingsway - just across from Metrotown. No chips though.

My concern with Indian food in the Vancouver is not quality or tastiness. It is that you are expected to eat it sober.
It is a bit like going to a football match without going to the pub beforehand. It is the same game, but a profoundly different experience.

You make a very valuable point. I don't remember ever going for an Indian in the UK completely sober, it usually it topped off a nice evening in the pub.

Oink, have you tried what was my favourite place in Vancouver, Noor Mahal on Fraser? Its southern Indian so they do some good dhosas and also used to have a rather nice goat curry on the menu.
I'm curious if it's still any good. Not wanky like Vijs.

ps I'm glad someone else thinks Vijs is wanky. Apparently holding such views in this city tantamount to heresy. It's just up the street from me and none of my Canadian friends can fathom why I don't want to go there.

I really enjoyed the curry at Nawab too, if we were to be in Calgary of an evening, we would either eat at the Old Spag Factory, Peters Drive through or Nawab, depending on what we fancied.

Another vote for Jaipur (although a very quietly spoken one as we dont want to be invaded out here!LOL)
Cochrane now has two nice curry houses, I think jaipur pips Mehtab which opened a couple of years ago, but I still enjoy both of their butter chicken and onion bhajis with pilau rice!!!
OOOh really fancy one now!

Is the Mehtab still open? Two Indian restaurants in Cochrane would be the final proof that it is Little Britain.
