Default Social work in Canada

Hello,

Is anybody working as a qualified social worker in Canada? I wanted some advice about who to talk too about finding work in Canada (as a social worker) and generally what the work conditions are like? I have been on the Canadian Association of Social Work website but it would be good to speak to somebody that is doing it.

Hope to hear from somebody soon.

Thanks

Hi,

I was looking at BC but would consider anywhere. I am trying to find out as much information as possible about social work in Canada. I am also trying to find out where jobs are advertised. I thought that if I could find some job descriptions I would know what they are looking for and what I would need to do. Also do you need to get a visa first? I am little confused about the visa process.

thanks

Yes. It probably would help if you read the Wiki article called Quick Guide to Canadian Immigration.

Until dingbat returns and answers your questions, you can get some sense of what she might say by reading her posts in the following threads:
Hope that helps.

Hi Judy,

Thank you for getting back to me, that information is really helpful. I think I have a lot of reading to do.

Which area of social work do you work in?

Where are social work vacancies advertised in Canada, I only know the UK system and so Canada feels like a different world.

Thanks
