Hi I am new on this side, so HELLO !!
Can anyone advice a snowboard school somewhere in Canada ? I am starting up. I am living now around Vancouver. Thanks for you advice anyway !

I'm pretty sure all ski & snowboard resorts have a school. You should be able to google your nearest. You should only really need a 2-3 hour lesson, then spend the rest of the day on your backside on the runs

I'd find a Snow and Ski Club that includes lessons in the membership. Much cheaper than Resort instruction and gets you out with people of a similar level to practice with.

A quick google search lists many snowboarding schools in the Vancouver area.

You can expect to pay anything between $45 and $450 though, so be prepared!

I'd wait and buy the rest of your gear here. Much more choice and expertise and also cheaper.

The most important purchase is good comfortable boots and obviously a good quality helmet.

I've got everything now except a ill get a better jacket.

I'll be on an IEC visa so wasn't banking on having the available cash for the everything when I was out there.

Not really, there is a much larger market, especially used, for that sort of stuff.

The ski patrol ski/ board sales in the fall are full of good new and used gear at good prices. Kijiji adds throw up lots of deal for used stuff too.

Canada is expensive for some things, but still cheap for others.

I had a look at prices at an online Vancouver snowboarding store for new boards and bindings and yes your right they are cheaper.

I wasn't impressed with the selection though as a female beginner but if In The future I decide to buy another board then I know it will be cheaper.

Yes I am an advocate that Canada is typically more expensive for 75-80% of items too.

But for Ski and Snowboard gear there is a lot left lying around stores at the end of seasons and the discounts are very reasonable. Brands like Canada Goose and Northface are definitely cheaper.

In the UK only so much gets imported and is flogged at a premium.

I really want a Canada goose jacket - might have to treat myself to one of them
