Proper seasons? It's the 9th of September and it's snowing!!! I didn't notice the leaves turn brown - they went from green to white!!

The folks here tell me not to worry - the sun will be back out soon. In fact, the forecast is for a sunny weekend. At the moment, I just can't see it - it feels like winter to me! They also tell me that this isn't snow - just a dusting. Oh boy! They're kidding right? ... Tell me they're kidding!!... (I know they're not!).

Sadly they are not kidding- you have probably heard that its not cold either. Alberta has a strange system of weather terminology. Chilly, cool and cold are on a different scale to the one you are used to. Its not 'cold' until its below minus 25 - anything above that is cool or chilly!

You will also get used to the different types of snow!

If you go to the Depot you will see lots of big plants for sale - if you have not got some already I suggest you get a few. Come March you will be expecting to see green stuff and you are likely to be sadly disappointed.

Good luck.

We have had snow before in September and then in October it can be 30 degrees! The real trouble with September snow is that its wet and heavy and all the leaves are on the trees still and if you aren't careful it breaks the branches off with all that weight.

I was sat in Membury (sp) services on the M4 with my parents. We had just been away camping for the weekend and called in on the way home. When we went in it was sunny but big black clouds in the distance. When we came out after lunch there was a light covering of snow

No, that's not the first snow for the winter of '04-'05. That was the last snow from '03-'04.
