To get a job in Toronto you need to network. Cold calling and sending resumes does not work. Leverage the use of LinkedIn and use your professional connections to find work. Meet agents face to face and learn to rewrite your CV into a format Canadian recruitment companies expect.
Toronto is buzzing with more buildings going up than any other north American city. The variety of food and restaurants is on a par with London UK.
Historic and cultural comparisons with London are futile, as there is no city in the world that can compete, even New York struggles. Toronto is a city of the future where many Hollywood movies are shot to replicate New York. It's a city going through growing pains. The infrastructure requires massive investment. The TTC is bursting at the seams and requires more money to grow into a proper underground network like the London tube. There are pluses an minuses to every place. You will only find out by living the experience.

I was in Brighton this morning. Now, 38 pounds later, I'm in Switzerland. If you start in Toronto and invest 38 pounds in transportation you're in Etobicoke (and there's no reason to go to Etobicoke). Never mind that, in Toronto, you won't be able to replicate the quality of life you have in Brighton, you won't be able to go anywhere else to get away. If you have a good life in Brighton, dinner on the table without scrimping, chance to walk along the seafront, all sort of family friendly entertainment on hand, some beautiful buildings to admire, then think whether or not you'd move to Slough. I would not move to Slough and I would not move to Toronto.
