Hope Dave+Jules sorted you out ok - he is the MAN when it comes to IT jobs in NB - i am just a newbie here :rofl: From my point of view though, coming from Northern Ireland where the salaries are less than the rest of the UK, my salary actually went up :thumbsup:

I thought I would reply regarding salary information in the forum so people can see it. My HR guide has given me a range of $63-$73k for a developer with your level of experience. In my experience in New Brunswick you should be able to live reasonably well on $70k. But it depends on what you want in terms of housing etc.

He also said there is some demand for Java developers I would look at Spielowho are owned by Gtech, swift Radius in NB, I believe Mariner Partners in Halifax also have Java Developer requirements. Try www.careerbeacon.com

Thanks for supplying this info :thumbup: it's so much more accurate and insightful than any I have gotten before. With housing prices at the level in NB a $70K salary would be plenty for us to live on and enjoy life.

All I wish now is that I could book my flights today!! Like so many others I have a house to sell first...

Anyone know of a slary range for a .NET developer with 7yrs experience? I'm looking at Vancouver or Toronto.

5 years within a tier 1 investment bank in Futures & Options / Prime brokerage and 2 years working for Microsoft?

I come over in Aug on a working holiday visa and wouldnt mind making it a perm thing while im over there. I'm 25 have a MCAD & a Bsc in computer science also I am aware the years experience v's age doesnt add up but I can explain for anyone who cares :)

hi, I am a sergeant in the royal signals in the british army looking to move to the toronto area after completing my 22 yrs service in 2014. I am a comms systems engineer, qualified upto HND standard hoping to be qualified in CCNP and Prince 2 by the time i leave and looking for a job in IT/Networking in the Toronto area. any help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated. I still have 6 years to tune my quals to the canadian market so any advice on what would be better received by employers would be great thanks.

Having read through some of the posts in this thread i have realised i dont have any valid reason for wanting toronto other than my uncle living there and a s a good soldier i am always prepared to move just about anywhere within reason if it means a better quality of life for my family. so if anyone can help with good areas, quals needed etc for a comms sytsems engineer i would be very greatful with any advice given.

Hi there I'm fairly new to this posting lark.
My OH has about 23 years experience in Oracle DBA and Middleware, and we were wondering if there is any call for this in Canada. If so where, and is it a required skill? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Both roles (PM systems engineer and Oracle DBA) would have a demand in almost any city in Canada. One of the key growth area at the moment in Canada is healthcare related development / integration projects so any of the systems integrators will look at people with any Healthcare experience on their resume. I know it is totally irrelevant because technology experience is the key for these roles, it is easy for them to place people with experience in the end user environment.

I would answer questions like "What are you coming for", "What do you want to achieve with the move"? Answer these questions they will help decide, Big city, small city etc then review the provinces for the type of environment you want (by the sea etc...)

For me it was a change in lifestyle and to slow the pace of life. After working in central London for 14 years I wanted a complete contrast. Hence I chose Fredericton New Brunswick. City of about 50-60,000 with most of the amenities you would want and a great attitude to work life balance:thumbsup:

Interesting thread, seems that staying away from the big cities isn't necessarily a bad idea which is pretty much the opposite of here.
Anyone over on Vancouver Island with any good IT contacts? I'm a presales/PM/support type person, plenty of experience, BSc etc. and (currently) only a British CV available.

I am currently just getting to the end of my first year, in the Skilled Workers Visa. We were really looking to move to the kitchener/waterloo area, but we would happily move elsewhere.

Is there any IT professionals out there who moved to the kitchener/waterloo area who could advise on recruitment within this area??

Hi, I'm looking for work in the Vancouver area. I'm an Infrastructure Support Analyst trying to move in the direction of Solution Architect. I have BSc in Information Systems, MCSE, & 10 years exp in London City finance environment. Key skills are AD, scripting, Citrix, software packaging deployment and VMWare.
