Re: Should we ask for a seperate forum for the 'Comics'
I'm not voting. If I did it would be "none of the above".
I'm not suggesting anyone should be "kicked out". I already offered an opinion that it might be a good idea to have a subforum for general chit-chat, just so that new people coming here for information might be able to find it easier to find, and not so dauntingly cliquey. I did not subscribe to the beaver etc threads; it's not really my thing, and when I saw threads were headed that way I'd stop reading. But some did start out as serious questions. If I'd come as a noob and found that going on I don't think I'd have stayed around to be honest. I think the suggestion that posters be gently reminded (by a mod?) for swooping off into personal chat, and they would (probably) stop would most likely work. But I also subscribe to a site which IMHO is "over-policed", and that is tiresome too. I agree that threads, if they are long enough, or even quite short sometimes, can tend to change direction ..... but that can be interesting so not always a "bad" thing. If I had to vote, I'd vote that people just stop being so nasty to each other. If anything is going to make me quite this site it is that. I hate it. |

Like Morwenna, having found this site initially, I dont think I would have returned if it was in the state it is now I do, however, feel there are a number of bullies on the site that need to have knuckles rapped a few times, so heavy policing is necessary, I try to stay out of it but my nature will always make me defend people, right or wrong |

Hmm, I don't know which group I should be in, so not sure how to vote. I'll have a think and come back a bit later on :)

we need a sepraet forum, i enjoy the digressions very much but if you actually want to find something out it can be frustrating when you think you have found the answer to your query to discover its more beavering, and then you have to wade through the rodents just in case its a useful answer to your question

MMM
Dont ken about this one yet !!!!!! I have been very guilty in the very recent past of sticking in a few sly / rude comments, not about anyone I hasten to add. Do we really need a sub forum, or should the resident jokers, or as some call them trolls have their knuckles rattled by the mods I enjoy the Glasgow Banter, the cheeky comments, what I dislike is when a serious question is asked and then all of a sudden stupid unrelated comments get posted and the thread goes off at differnet tangents. Some folk try to pull it back, but alas most of the time the serious question is now lost, to be picked back up again pages and pages later, which does nothing for the guys who have followed or tried to follow the thread. When this happens I just give up trying to follow that particular thread. Guess what I am trying to say is, lets keep it all in perspective !!! BE is a great site and full of invaluable information Lets keep it that way. BE is a site for all of those seeking, informative, useful, interesting, amusing, touching, sensitive, duff ( shit ), educational, helpful, enlightening, instructive, constructive, adaptfull, positive, productive, beneficial and practical information to enable us all to get over the big pond. And before you all ask, NO I did not swallow a dictionary !!!!!!! Eddie |
