Nice boat trip from Tsawwassen (Vancouver) to Schwartz Bay (Vancouver Island). It's 1 hour 35 mins each way, you wiggle through some of the Gulf Islands, if you go as a foot passenger it's not too expensive; loads of restaurants, cafe's on board, free wifi. Not really anywhere to go when you arrive unless you have a car or are on the Pacific Coachlines bus which will take you to Victoria.
