Lots of people have good and bad reviews of their shipping agents and I know that they aren't perfect, but we used Robinsons and they were pretty good on the whole. We got quotes from Pickfords and Anglo Pacific too, but went with the middle quote as Robinsons seemed the most organised when they came out to see us.
They were fabulous packers, very efficient and personable and their estimate of a 20ft container was bang on. They managed to leave a few items off our shipment by mistake so we ended up waiting another 4 weeks for our remaining stuff to arrive - which was a bit annoying, but always kept us informed and updated of progress etc. All our stuff arrived unscathed with the exception of a garden nightlight holder which broke - not expensive so didn't claim for it. Overall about 8/10 I reckon!
Best advice is get at least 3 quotes and go with your gut instinct, if they seem pretty thorough when they come out to assess your home contents, then chances are they'll probably do a fairly decent job of it.

We had quotes from Pickfords, Anglo Pacific, Robinsons and PSS. We went with Robinsons - they were brilliant! We couldn't ship the stuff straight away, as we were awaiting some paperwork from CIC but we'd sold the house and had to get out. They gave us a couple of options regarding storing and packing. We export wrapped and packed everything as if it was going on the container, except it was going to their warehouse. I gave them the nod about 6 wks later and they arranged for everything to be shipped. It was shipped at the beginning of September and we had it on 28th September! It was really quick getting here.

Packing was brill and everything arrived safe and sound - no breakages. Their service was excellent.

We came with PSS. They were fantastic. The guys were friendly, fast and the cost really reasonable. The guys just kept working till they were done and they interacted brilliantly with my kids. I wrote to them thanking them so much for the service as it was a really stressfull time for us all and it went so smoothly.

We had very minimal items shipped only personal items books, kids toys, ornaments etc no furniture and we used mayflower shipping based in essex and were very disappointed as they would not cover damages even though they packed the items for us. I would use Robinsons as we have heard very good things about them (cheapest isn't always best!):(

When we come over I am going to get quotes from Canadian companys. My thoughts are, if there are any problems then the company will be right on my door step, where as a UK company will have had their money and not be too bothered about problems.

That's my way of thinking any way - sounded good in my head:unsure:

Definatley. You get what you pay for when dealing with oversea's removals.

Trust me I have people close to me "in the trade" ;)

Hi,

I got a quote from Anglo Pacific - absolutely hated the rep he couldn't wait to leave after quickly going through the house and couldn't be bothered to go into the garage! Anyway they came out at the most expensive.

Got a 2nd quote from Robinsons - loved the rep and price was good for a 20ft sole use container. They were so professional when they packed our furniture. I would highly recommend them furthermore, our goods arrived exactly 5 weeks later no damage except for a table leg which had snapped off but I didn't care as everything else arrived in perfect order.

We used PSS, it was at short notice so we didn't get notified of shipping increase until final bill but their service was excellent.
We dismantled everthing we needed to and cleaned n discinfected all bikes and garden furniture. Two guys packed everything in one day except for the mattresses which they packed the next morning. Container arrived early at 9:45 and was loaded and waved off by 11:30.

I dont know how you all had the patience to ship your stuff over, I gave up and sold it all and started afresh, mind you things were cheaper here then.
