I'll be moving from Rome, Italy to Vancouver in March (only clothing and books no furniture) and I need help selecting a reliable company. I've written to several and the best quote so far for 5 cubic meters of boxes has come from Pickfords for 1353 sterling www.pickfords.com. I'll check out the companies you've mentioned here. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Could you ask your airline to give you an air-freight quote? If you're not bringing much, that could work out cheaper.

Airlines are way too expensive. To ship 10 cubic meters and to fly 1 cubic meter comes to about the same price.

Can anyone tell me if you pay the entire amount prior to pickup? Is that normal?

We went to Halifax from Edinburgh and used Anglo Pacific. Went no damages well and we were charged £3500 for a full container.

We are lookng to ship a full container in the summer from the Midlands to NS.

I have just done a search through the thread of the last 6 months or so and took a note of the companies who had three or more people recommend or warn about them. Thought I would share the results, as it took a surprisingly long time to find the information:

Whites + 2 -1
Robinsons +8 -1
Simpsons +2 -1
Dorree/Bonner +3 -0
GB Liners +9 -0
Anglo pacific +2 -1
Pickfords +3 -2
PSS +3 -3

Based on this I plan to get quotes from Robinsons, GB liners and Dorree/Bonner.

We used Doree Bonner - OK for household stuff but not very good on clothes and personal belongings.
