Hi, My partner, 2 kids and I are moving to Ontario early next year, I will be on a TWP, can anyone tell us how much of our belongings will we be allowed to take over and the average cost of shipping from the UK to Ontario, or know of any shipping companies we could contact?

Hi, you can take your whole household with you if you like. There are a few exemptions I think i.e. plants. You have to be careful with anything that got in contact with soil i.e. bikes, tents. But you can clean them properly and take them. We took our tent and bike. Cost varies depending on how much you want to bring and which shipping company.

Hi, we recently used brittania to ship our things in a 20foot container from Cheshire to Calgary. Total cost was just over £5k including insurance. This also included packing, unpacking and a couple of weeks storage in the uk.
I would shop around as pickfords were quite a bit more expensive but I guess all cases are different so you may find it is the other way around.
We took everything except a wooden carved bear from the garden as we were told it could cause problems.
Hope this helps a bit.

Whites did a great job for us back in 2009 full packing service( which i would advise) with a 20ft container door to door from Bournemouth to Ottawa for just under 4000 pounds
