Thank you for all your replies. It seems there are two options open for setting up a Ltd. company:

Federal Incorporation - Which would allow the business to trade across Canada but at least one of the directors needs to be resident in Canada.

Provisional Incorporation - Which would allow the business to trade in that province but directors don't have to be resident in Canada (this maybe province dependent though so will need to check).

As for trading address in the UK I can use my accountants address so they can pick up any correspondence. Is this possible in Canada as well as I don't want to setup an office ideally.

Former Lancastrian - As far as the visas are concerned I am looking at TWP but not sure what GATS is. I fit your description as a senior computer specialist as I am a post graduate with a Computer Science degree and over ten years experience so I may qualify.

A provincial corporation can trade anywhere. However, it will have its place of business in the province.

Looking after the affairs of a corporation is legislated as lawyering business in BC. An accountant might be willing to act as a mailing address for the company but you need a lawyer to act as your registered and records office.

Check out Appendix D of this manual page 175 re GATS.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resourc...w/fw01-eng.pdf

The whole manual explains working in Canada and if you qualify for TWP under the various programmes available.
Sorry its not a Tom Clancy type read

Really? Can the business not have its own address for such things?

Of course, but the OP is asking about using a third party to act as the company's office. Anything to do with the formal organization of a limited company is considered as part of the practice of law. Only lawyers can do it.

Actually, that is not quite right. Only lawyers can charge a fee for doing it.
