There will be a few other registrations that you will have to take care of if you wish to incorporate but, other than what you have said, that is just about it.
I doubt that incorporating will be worth the effort for what you intend to do but, horses for courses and all that.

Look at the CRA website, self-employed guide. You have to get a payroll number and GST number. http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/s.../menu-eng.html
The main bit is filing a T2125 with your T1 every year, which is complex. Make sure you keep close track of your expenses. Also, as a self-employed person you have to pay both halves of the CPP, but you are exempt from paying EI, which is the most common mistake self-employed people make.
If you're confused by the terminology you can make an appointment with the CRA at the federal building and they can provide more explanation. Talking to them on the phone can get a bit tiring.
CPP and EI are the equivalent of NI in the UK. GST is the equivalent of VAT.

Based on recent hairdressing threads on this forum apparently you will have all the work you can handle and more though travel might be a bit of an issue
Are you british trained, do you listen to customers and cut their hair the way they want it and not how you decide.
If you answered yes to both then your quids in so to speak. I would start PMing all those ladies who cant find a decent hairdresser
in Canada.
Hell Justin Bieber has his stylist on call and if you are that good then Im sure some of these bad haircut ladies will gladly pay for you to visit them.

Steve thanks so much i think i may look into self employed a little more now.
@Former Lancastrian yes british trained and have been hairdressing for about 25 yrs oh and i've already done so well in canada, i think it's very easy come easy go here so people do really stay in hair and build clients up, but then they wonder why they don't make good money, thanks for the ideas.
@JonboyE thanks for the info much appreciated :0
