Sending $20 to Canada
#1
So, OH has to pay $20 to apply for a job and send it across with his application.
Our bank will only allow drafts to be made out up to 35 characters and no more. The beneficiary (organisation) title is 41 characters and no less....
There must be an easier way to send a $20 cheque to Canada.

Sounds very odd that they want money off you.
Best way is to get the money from a foreign exchange and send cash. Oh I usually find Marks and Spencers does much better rates than the rubbish ones at the Post Office.

It's for the Fire Service, standard practice aparently. In all, the process costs $800 approx for everything including the polygraph test!!!
They won't accept cash either.
Thanks for your replies though.

Halifax.
That's his job and what he wants to do. Don't want him to get a crappy job, hate it and we have to come back to UK.

I'm assuming that paying by credit/debit card is not an option?
We had to apply for assessment to the nursing regulatory bodies in BC (for a fee naturally) and we a had a range of options of how to pay, including credit card - I have to say it did make that part of the process a little easier.

Sadly no, it's money order or certified cheque only.
I think this is the first test - if you can sort this out you can do anything!

Is this for real?
Bizarre.
Sean Boxer is a volunteer fireman near Ottawa as I recall, he never mention having to pay for anything???
