Default Self sufficiency in Newfoundland.

I have read numerous threads and have found a lot of self sufficient in NS but nothing in NF. I am not looking to be totally sufficient but I am interested in a small holding, chickens, pigs, and growing veg etc. We are coming over for a recce. (NB, NS,PEI, NF) and obviously our choice of where to settle will be dependent on other factors it would be nice to hear from anyone from any of the four provinces who have tried and succeeded (or failed!) to warn us of what we can expect to find. Thank you.
