Default Schools please

Hi all,
we are coming over at the end of July for a two week holiday/research trip. We are staying in Canmore. We are wanting to live in the Calgary area and was hoping to maybe try and visit some schools while we were there. Could anybody let me know what the school holidays are and if there are any open please. We are coming over from the 22nd July-5th August.

We are planning to take a good look around Calgary, at different housing area's and I have a couple of informal meeting/chat with some plumbing firms, about the possibility of getting employment and helping me of what I should be doing to get into the plumbing trade, over there in Calgary. My problem is, what to wear? Casual, jeans or a bit tidier trousers/ shirt?

Thanks again,

Schools ? Yep - close up in last week of June and back again around first week of September. There might be staff in on the odd day during the hols but I wouldn't count on it. Maybe email the relevant schools, ask if there is any member of staff due in at all whilst you are over, and maybe ask to meet up and discuss things. Not sure that you would get a hugely 'balanced' view of an empty, echoey school building with one member of staff though !

Interview ? I would go as smart as you can - always better to be 'over-dressed' me thinks - good impressions and all that - regardless of the position. It shows you care and you have pride.

Good luck !

Although schools are shut down during the summer, the Admissions Office that processes immigrant children is open year-round. It is located in Riverside Bungalow at 711 - 2 Avenue NE, Calgary, telephone (403) 777-7373. If you want to pay them a visit, a prior appointment is essential. I would make the appointment AT LEAST two weeks in advance.

thanks Judy, that's great help.

do you think it is possible to have a look around a school, or would we have to do that when they are open?

Thanks

Mate, as an ex-teacher I would say feel free to look around a school that has no students in BUT dont expect to see what the school is REALLY like.
