Default Schools in Canmore - advice please!

Hi, we're currently looking to enrol our kids in a Canmore school, but trying to get our head around them & the Alberta system. Our kids are 4yrs and 7yrs and will be heading into Kindergarten and Grade 3 this fall. As we're moving from the UK, we'd have liked to keep them in the same school environment for as long as possible (to help them settle), but I can only see that Alpenglow goes from Kindergarten to Grade 6, whereas Elizabeth Rummel; Kindergarten to Grade 3, so our eldest would have to move again after only 1 year. (Where do kids go on to after E.Rummel school?

Does anyone have any advice about this or what the schools are like as Alpenglow and E.Rummel look very different in terms of teaching styles. I like the French Immersion programme at E.Rummel, and the skiing/other activities, but Alpenglow also looks pretty interesting, though can't see they do French or skiing etc...

Argh! Thanks for any help as feeling swamped and registration is imminent....

hi there, I was wondering how you got on with your move and whether your kids are settling in? Our move to Canmore from the UK has been delayed due to the current virus situation.
my kids are older 12 and 16 and I’m wondering how kids in Canmore find Canmore Collegiate?
appreciate any insight you might have or anyone else with kids at High School in Canmore.
many thanks

Hi,

We’ve not made it over yet ourselves for the same reason. Our flights are booked for end of June, but it’s been so chaotic that there’s no way we’ll be able to move then. So no idea on schools yet, sorry. We’ve registered ours for Elizabeth Rummel, so don’t know much about the older schools.

Let me know how you get on!

Good luck! It’s been a very strange 2020 so far 😬
