Hi we have just about decided to give Canmore a go and live there. The main question is what are the schools like in Canmore? Our kids would be starting off in a couple if years (currently 2 and 1) but we don't want to settle there and then find there are no decent schools. Would be gear to hear from anyone living in Canmore with kids...
Thanks!

All three levels of schools are available in Canmore. You don't get any choice there's only one of each.
Elementary: Elizabeth Rummel School (GR K-4)
Middle School (Junior High): Lawrence Grassi Middle School (GR:5-8)
High School:Canmore Collegiate High School (GR 9-12)
Here's a link to the Canadian Rockies Public School District: http://www.crps.ab.ca/index.php?opti...tpage&Itemid=1
If you are Catholic then there is only one school and it covers all grades K - 12: http://www.redeemer.ab.ca/ols/Pages/default.aspx
Not heard any complaints about any of them.
If your children are that young there's no telling what a school will be like in 4 or 5 years. The staff can change especially the principal (Head) which may or may not change the entire complexion of a school.

The Schools are fine here as mentioned by Steve ERS is the Elementry, my youngest child goes there. They offer both english and french.
My oldest daughter has just started the high school after going to LGMS for two years, all schools are big in outdoor activity and the kids will have the opportunity to ski or snowboard in the winter.
There are school fees here I believe that's how it is in most places, there not greatly high but workout around $300 PA each. They have also started charging for school buses this year at $60 PA. Oh and half days every second friday.

Hard to say how many kids, but there is Catholioc school plus the elementrty plus middle school so i would say plenty

I actually work in Banff as my wife did also until a week ago when she took a position in Calgary, Which means we will probably move in a year.
Canmore its a stunning community albeit very expensive property wise. A little transiant as people tend to live here for while and leave as they get frustrated at lack of opportunity and being unable to get on the property market. And amenities are not the greatest.
However for those can afford it have good jobs or for those who don't mind the commute. Its a very nice place, New multiplex being built which will be nice and a Crappy tire also.
It's really nice being able to look out your window at the mountains everyday.
