My son is 13yrs old (14 in dec 2nd). What school grade would he be in Canada?

Yes, agree with Calgal.....my son has only just turned 15 and is in Gr.9

Sorry - I should have expanded on my original answer. It is possible that your son could be assessed and placed accordingly; which may mean a grade either side of grade eight.

True. My daughter was born in 1990 but is just finishing Grade 11.

In Dufferin-Peel (Ontario) any child over kindergarten age has to be assessed by the school board if they move from another country, but unless they are particularly above or below their expected grade, they will be placed in their age group. Usually it's by calendar year Jan-Dec (so someone born in Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec would still be allowed to join the Sept class of that same year).
