Default Satellite internet?

When I was in Canada my cousin said something about them not having a very fast internet connection at their place. But that could be done by installing a satellite disk.

Your comments please.

It's more common in smaller towns ... I had a client who had an office out in Fernie ... the only way they could get internet was via satellite and it was pretty crap.

I've got satellite in Calgary, but my choices for internet are cable, ADSL or dial-up, no option to use satellite, but I guess there's no call for it.

Almost worse than dial up ... just about able to support a PC Anywhere connection ... as Bob said, provided there wasn't snow on the dish or bad weather.

Problem is, you lose the service pretty easily on shite weather...and snow on the dish will kill it, not to mention the tele, and there's a lot of snow out here...though it would depend on where you are of course.
