$50k will get you, on average, just under $3,300 a month (as a single person). $100,000 at a good rate will cost you about $600. It is not luxury but it is perfectly doable.

$50k net is over $4k a month. More than enough to service a $600 mortgage with plenty left over.

You'll be fine. Good luck in Sardis, one of my favourite places.

According to the OP the $50k is net so presumably the gross salary is nearer $70k?

Sounds like a pretty good salary compared with what alot of the companies are paying here and you should have no probs covering a mortgage that size. There are quite a few of us on here that live in Sardis and everyones very friendly. Just shout if you need advise and am sure one of us here will help out...

Thanks everyone, great advice. I was over last November for another reccie and have settled on Sardis as best place for us and the kids. Company is in Abby so just a short whizz into town from there. Greendale looks really nice and has now overtaken my initial fav of Promontoty heights.
50K is net and I will have something from the sale of our own house should we stick it out for a year or two. Will be renting initially so advice on rentable properties in that area appreciated.
Many Thanks Again,
Neil.
