Default Round trip or one way?

We are just booking our flights to find that Air Canada charge quite a lot more for one way trips than round trips? Just wondering if we are 'allowed' to book a round trip and not use our return flights, e.g call Air Canada and cancel them after landing so that the tickets could be resold maybe? We need to go with Air Canada because we have our Spaniel going out on a flight with a company who book Air Canada also we are flying from Heathrow. Has anybody else booked round trip tickets despite going with a TWP and so obviously not returning 2 weeks later at all ! Not to mention taking your dog with you

Any advise would be great

Thanks

Yep, that's what I did. Round trip tickets, and just didn't show up for the return leg.

Thanks for your reply Rich

I was just a bit worried that we would look suspicious going through immigration if they checked and we had return tickets!

Looks like round trip tickets for us too

Make the return date as far in the future as possible, I thinks its a year.

Then if you have to go back for some reason, pay the change fee for the date change and then book another return for your way back, again extending the return date to the maximum.

That's what we did. My gran is 99, so it was worth having a flight waiting at only the change fee cost - put my mind at rest. Don't worry about cancelling even if you don't want to use it - most airlines oversell anyway so are quite happy if people don't turn up for the flight after paying for it!
