Default Returning to UK

We have been in Canada since 2008, first Ontario but now Alberta. We have decided it’s time to go home now, has anyone else done it and have tips for us on things like tax liability if we sell our house here to buy one in the UK.

One tip I’ve picked up is to sell your Canadian house ie close on it and receive the money, before you leave. Tax gets complicated if you leave earlier. Also complete a ToR form to declare any goods you’re shipping as your personal items, so not taxable.

Thank you. I agree, getting the house closed first is the best plan. I don’t know what a TOR is, I’ll have to Google it Lol.

There's a Moving Back to the UK folder. I should think every possible issue has been discussed there umpteen times.
